N Penthouse

Located in the neighborhood of Zokak El Blat at the northern periphery of Beirut’s central district, this 160-square-meter penthouse boasts a spectacular terrace even more spacious than the residence’s interior. A TV presenter and avid entertainer, the client expressed a desire for an outdoor getaway in her own backyard. In extremely close proximity to the sculptural Burj El-Murr, and with splendid views over the city and the Mediterranean, an urban rooftop oasis was created, complete with a spectacular sundeck and dipping pool open on three orientations.

The main living space’s curved glazed panels open up onto the outdoor deck, merging interior with exterior to transform an otherwise modest space into a glorious reception area jutting out into the city. The eastern wing of the residence houses the kitchen, powder room and master bedroom, whereas the western wing accommodates the two children’s rooms.

The winter kitchen is a linear space with a multi-functional wall of white lacquered cabinetry integrating all appliances on one side, whereas a sleek white counter runs along the opposing side, under a window peering out at the hovering dipping pool and city beyond. The powder room adds playfulness to these quarters with its stainless steel walls and mirrored ceiling, separated by linearly-lit joints which create distorted reflections in the tiles.

In contrast, the master bedroom offers serenity with its sheer linen curtains, parquet floors and greige color palette. Every element from the bed to its linens was custom-made to enhance the harmonious and romantic quality of the space. In the western wing, additional space is gained in the daughter’s bedroom by glazing a balcony, transforming it into a cozy nook fitted with a customized daybed. The beige backdrop of the room rendered in the upholstery of this sofa and adjacent custom-made round bed is animated by the splash of color introduced in the bouquet of pillows.

The remaining bedroom’s edgy feel is created through the use of a darker color palette of black and grey against a stark red wall. The user expressed the desire for a suspended bed, achieved through the use of steel cables, along one of which a customized lighting fixture was integrated.
